Mwathani nĩ mũrĩithi, ndirĩ kĩĩndũ ingĩaga,
Nyeki-inĩ ĩrĩa nduru nĩkuo andĩithagia,
Aaheaga maaĩ me na ũhuurũko.
Na akanjokia hĩndĩ ĩrĩa njũrĩte.

Metha nĩ ũnjarĩire, mbere ya thũ ciakwa,
Na gĩkombe gĩakwa kĩiyũire gĩkoina;
ũhakĩĩte maguta mũtwe wakwa.
Nĩkĩ kĩĩngĩ ingĩũria kuuma kũrĩ we?

O na ingĩgera mũkuru wa gĩkuũ.
Nĩ mũrori wakwa ndigĩĩtigĩra.
Mũthĩĩngi waku nĩguo ũndiraga.
Rĩrĩa wahoreria no ngaigua wega.

Wega o na ũtugi itwarane na niĩ.
Matukũ makwa mothe rĩu nginya tene;
Na niĩ ngũtũũra nyũũmba-inĩ ya Ngai.
Thĩini wa ũthamaki ũcio, wa wendo waku Ngai.
