Wĩra wakwa wathira, ndarĩkia kũhonokio
Na heo mwĩrĩ ũrĩa ũtagakua,
Nĩngamenya Mũkũũri ndakinya kũu igũrũ,
Agatuĩka wa mbere kũndangĩra.
Kũmenya nĩ ngamũmenya, ahonokia tũikarage nake,
Kũmenya nĩ ngamũmenya, ndona irema cia mĩcumarĩ.

Nĩngagĩa na gĩkeno ndamuona ũthiũ wake,
Onaguo ũkengi wa maitho make,
Nĩngakumia Mũkũũri tondũ wa tha na wendo,
Icio iheete handũ kũu igũrũ.

Nĩngatonya kĩhingo ndĩ na nguo igũkenga,
Anginyie kũu gũtarĩ maithori,
Na nĩngaina rũĩmbo rũa tene na tene kũna,
No nĩngenda nyone Mũkũũri mbere.
